Fairbanks, Alaska: home to the farthest north pipe band in the United States. We are the Fairbanks Red Hackle Pipe Band and we welcome you to our website. We perform in a number of events in and around Fairbanks, mostly in the summer, but throughout the rest of the year as well. You can find us at parades, fairs, and other community events, as well as private occasions like weddings, memorials, and celebrations of all kinds. Contact us if you're looking for something special at your next event. We also teach piping, drumming, and dancing so if you're interested, come see us and get started. We'd love to have you join us!
Due to the high levels of COVID-19 in Fairbanks, we unfortunately must decline all requests for band performances for the foreseeable future. Unless anything changes, we will reevaluate this decision when warmer weather returns in spring 2021 and outdoor performances by individuals or small groups might be possible. We look forward to the time we can mark the important events of life together once again.
The purposes of the Fairbanks Red Hackle Pipe band are (1) to foster and promote the traditions of Scottish music, dance and folk culture, and (2) to provide a structure for teaching, learning, and performing Scottish music and dance.
This CD presents traditional and modern bagpipe music including competition medleys, marches, jigs, strathspeys, reels, hornpipes, and slow aires. Featured are a duet with Robert White on pipes and Caitlin Warbelow on fiddle, and sets by guest band Tarwathie, with singer Isla Myers-Smith, performing a selection of Scottish songs.
